Summer Weekends...
Hi Everyone!
Sam and I had a great weekend. We got to do many different activities and had lots of fun together. This weekend we also got to enjoy time with friends - old and new!
Our weekend started on Friday night when Seth drove up from Pella to visit! We spent the night with him and his girlfriend Amy. Sam had a great idea to go out to dinner together, so we drove to Orange City to eat at the Chinese restaurant A8. Dinner was delicious! Mmm...Chinese food is one of my favorites. When we came back to Sioux Center we played sand volleyball at the park. Then we came home and played Pigs and Presidents. I tended to be the pig, but what can you do? It was very fun anyway.
On Saturday, we started out morning traveling to Lake Pahoja for an Interstates company picnic. We went fishing first, but didn't catch anything. Then we played some games with Jay and Dani - ladder golf and bean bags. I found out I'm a pretty good bean bag player and Sam is great at ladder golf! We ate lots of food catered by Hyvee. What is it that makes food eaten outside taste so much better? Then we went paddle boating and tried a contraption called a Hydro-Bike. It was a great part of the day. That night, we were invited to have dinner with some new friends from church. Dale and Amy Vander Berg have two children and Amy has really connected with us. It was a wonderful dinner. Amy and Dale invited some other church families and it was a treat to get to know new people from church. We had great food and fellowship!
On Sunday, we had a great time at church and were asked to teach Sunday School for this upcoming school year. I am so excited about this opportunity! Seth and Amy were kind enough to cook dinner for us. They did a great job! Sunday night came and Sam made us a bonfire and we roasted hot dogs and made smores. It was a beautiful night to be outside.
Yesterday, Sam and I decided that this weekend would be a great weekend for a camping trip to Decorah! So, we took a trip to Sioux City and bought a tent for our trip. We are so excited to do some trout fishing, to spend some time on the river, and to eat ice cream from the Whippy Dip!
Hope you all are well!
Meg
